Everywhere.</p><p>The S&amp;P 500 closed above 7,000 for the first time in history on Wednesday. The Nasdaq crossed 24,000 and posted its 12th consecutive positive session, its longest winning streak since 2009. The VIX collapsed from 31 two weeks ago to below 19. Oil is back below $95. The market has not just recovered from the Iran war correction, it has surpassed it.</p><p>The speed of this reversal is striking. The S&amp;P 500 needed 88 sessions to recover to a record after last year&#8217;s Liberation Day selloff. This time, from the March 30 correction low to new all-time highs took just 53 sessions. Markets are learning to fade geopolitical volatility faster than ever before.</p><p>The catalyst this week was a combination of forces all pointing in the same direction: ceasefire negotiations progressing in Islamabad, oil falling sharply on hopes for a second round of talks, earnings season delivering strong results with banks leading the way, and Nvidia logging its 12th consecutive winning session. Goldman Sachs reported its second-highest quarterly profit ever. The S&amp;P 500 is now up more than 2% on the year. The Nasdaq is up more than 3%.</p><p>Six weeks ago we were watching a 13% correction unfold from the sidelines. This week the market set records.</p><p>The system entered at the right time. The Nasdaq surged +4.7% this week, its best performance since November. The S&amp;P 500 added +3.6%. The catalyst was clear: the U.S. and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire, with Iran partially reopening the Strait of Hormuz.</p><p>The week did not move in a straight line. Monday was cautious, Tuesday saw slim gains as Pakistan brokered last-minute negotiations. Then Wednesday happened. Trump announced the ceasefire, markets exploded. The Nasdaq surged 3.5% in a single session, the Dow gained nearly 3%. Asian markets followed overnight with South Korea&#8217;s Kospi up almost 7%.</p><p>By Friday, the mood was more measured. March CPI showed the largest monthly gain since 2022 at 0.9% driven entirely by war-related energy costs. The VIX dropped to 19 from 31 two weeks ago. The Dow turned positive for the year. The Nasdaq and S&amp;P 500 are now less than 1% below their January levels.</p><p>The market has essentially round-tripped the entire Iran war correction in two weeks.</p><p>This is exactly the kind of sharp reversal that leveraged ETF investors who held through the correction without a system paid the highest price for. They absorbed all of the downside and only now begin recovering. We absorbed controlled losses, held cash, and have been positioned for the recovery since Monday&#8217;s entry.</p><div><hr></div><p><em>Full module status, current exposure, and what the system needs to see before the next entry &#8212; available for paid subscribers below.</em></p><p class="button-wrapper" data-attrs="{&quot;url&quot;:&quot;https://nasdaqplaybook.substack.com/subscribe&quot;,&quot;text&quot;:&quot;Upgrade to Paid&quot;,&quot;action&quot;:null,&quot;class&quot;:null}" data-component-name="ButtonCreateButton"><a class="button primary" href="https://nasdaqplaybook.substack.com/subscribe"><span>Upgrade to Paid</span></a></p><div><hr></div><p><strong>What we do:</strong> One instrument (TQQQ). The correction narrative was deepening. Then Tuesday happened.</p><p>Reports emerged that Trump told aides he would consider ending the war in Iran even without fully reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Markets exploded. The Nasdaq surged 3.83%, its best single session since May. The S&amp;P 500 gained 2.91%. The Dow jumped over 1,100 points. Wednesday continued the recovery with another 1.28% Nasdaq gain.</p><p>Thursday brought more cautious trading as Defense Secretary Hegseth said the coming days would be &#8220;decisive&#8221;, markets held their gains but conviction faded into the long weekend. Friday is Good Friday. Markets are closed. The March Jobs Report drops at 8:30am but Wall Street cannot respond until Monday.</p><p>Powell&#8217;s comments reassured traders that a 2026 rate hike is unlikely a significant shift from last week when futures were pricing in rate increases. That alone removes one of the most dangerous overhangs that had been weighing on tech.</p><p>Is this the turn? The system does not answer that question. It reads the tape. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 2.15% on Friday alone to close at 20,948. The Nasdaq 100 entered official correction territory, down more than 10% from its October peak.</p><p>The week started with a brief flicker of hope &#8212; ceasefire negotiations between the U.S. and Iran sent oil below $97 mid-week and triggered a sharp relief rally. By Friday, that hope had evaporated. Oil surged back above $110 per barrel, Treasury yields climbed to nearly nine-month highs on inflation fears, and traders in the futures market pushed the probability of a rate increase by the end of 2026 above 50% for the first time.</p><p>Let that sink in. Six weeks ago markets were pricing in rate cuts. This week they started pricing in rate hikes. That is how quickly the macro environment has deteriorated.</p><p>The average Nasdaq Composite member has seen a 31% drawdown &#8212; far worse than the index-level numbers suggest. The broad indices are masking the real carnage underneath. The Nasdaq closed Friday at 21,647 &#8212; down over 2% on the day alone, marking a fourth consecutive week of declines and the Russell 2000 entering correction territory. This week had everything: a Fed meeting, oil briefly touching $110 per barrel, Powell expressing &#8220;great uncertainty&#8221; over the economic outlook, and AI-associated plays selling off hard into the close.</p><p>The Fed held rates unchanged &#8212; no surprise there. What rattled markets was the language. The updated economic projections raised inflation forecasts for 2026, citing upward pressure from tariffs and oil. Despite that, policymakers maintained a projection for one rate cut this year. Markets are struggling to price an environment where inflation is rising, growth is softening, and the central bank has its hands tied by geopolitics. That is the definition of a difficult tape.</p><p>The Iran conflict is now in its fourth week with no clear resolution. Brent crude is testing $110. Oil &amp; gas is the only sector consistently green. Everything else is under pressure. Tech, which had attempted a brief recovery mid-week, sold off hard again on Friday &#8212; Constellation Energy down nearly 11%, Micron down almost 5%.</p><p>This is not a market that wants to trend upward. It is a market that is grinding lower with occasional false recoveries that trap leveraged buyers. Being out of this has been the right call.</p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!E4Lt!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F27691ed6-3598-4343-9aae-cb986e5cdd24_1529x890.png" data-component-name="Image2ToDOM"><div class="image2-inset"><picture><source type="image/webp" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!E4Lt!,w_424,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F27691ed6-3598-4343-9aae-cb986e5cdd24_1529x890.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!E4Lt!,w_848,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F27691ed6-3598-4343-9aae-cb986e5cdd24_1529x890.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!E4Lt!,w_1272,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F27691ed6-3598-4343-9aae-cb986e5cdd24_1529x890.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!E4Lt!,w_1456,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F27691ed6-3598-4343-9aae-cb986e5cdd24_1529x890.png 1456w" sizes="100vw"><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!E4Lt!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F27691ed6-3598-4343-9aae-cb986e5cdd24_1529x890.png" width="1456" height="848" data-attrs="{&quot;src&quot;:&quot;https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/27691ed6-3598-4343-9aae-cb986e5cdd24_1529x890.png&quot;,&quot;srcNoWatermark&quot;:null,&quot;fullscreen&quot;:null,&quot;imageSize&quot;:null,&quot;height&quot;:848,&quot;width&quot;:1456,&quot;resizeWidth&quot;:null,&quot;bytes&quot;:185185,&quot;alt&quot;:null,&quot;title&quot;:null,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;image/png&quot;,&quot;href&quot;:null,&quot;belowTheFold&quot;:false,&quot;topImage&quot;:true,&quot;internalRedirect&quot;:&quot;https://nasdaqplaybook.substack.com/i/191664842?img=https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F27691ed6-3598-4343-9aae-cb986e5cdd24_1529x890.png&quot;,&quot;isProcessing&quot;:false,&quot;align&quot;:null,&quot;offset&quot;:false}" class="sizing-normal" alt="" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!E4Lt!,w_424,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F27691ed6-3598-4343-9aae-cb986e5cdd24_1529x890.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!E4Lt!,w_848,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F27691ed6-3598-4343-9aae-cb986e5cdd24_1529x890.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!E4Lt!,w_1272,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F27691ed6-3598-4343-9aae-cb986e5cdd24_1529x890.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!E4Lt!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F27691ed6-3598-4343-9aae-cb986e5cdd24_1529x890.png 1456w" sizes="100vw" fetchpriority="high"></picture><div class="image-link-expand"><div class="pencraft pc-display-flex pc-gap-8 pc-reset"><button tabindex="0" type="button" class="pencraft pc-reset pencraft icon-container restack-image"><svg role="img" width="20" height="20" viewBox="0 0 20 20" fill="none" stroke-width="1.5" stroke="var(--color-fg-primary)" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><g><title></title><path d="M2.53001 7.81595C3.49179 4.73911 6.43281 2.5 9.91173 2.5C13.1684 2.5 15.9537 4.46214 17.0852 7.23684L17.6179 8.67647M17.6179 8.67647L18.5002 4.26471M17.6179 8.67647L13.6473 6.91176M17.4995 12.1841C16.5378 15.2609 13.5967 17.5 10.1178 17.5C6.86118 17.5 4.07589 15.5379 2.94432 12.7632L2.41165 11.3235M2.41165 11.3235L1.5293 15.7353M2.41165 11.3235L6.38224 13.0882"></path></g></svg></button><button tabindex="0" type="button" class="pencraft pc-reset pencraft icon-container view-image"><svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="20" height="20" viewBox="0 0 24 24" fill="none" stroke="currentColor" stroke-width="2" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" class="lucide lucide-maximize2 lucide-maximize-2"><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line></svg></button></div></div></div></a></figure></div><div><hr></div><p><em>Full module status, current exposure, and what the system needs to see before the next entry &#8212; The driver is not a single shock but a toxic combination that markets find particularly difficult to price: the ongoing U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran has pushed oil above $90 per barrel, Brent crude advanced more than 11% on the week, and the jobs report on Friday showed an unexpected loss of 92,000 positions. Weak labor market. Rising inflation. The word stagflation is now appearing in mainstream financial coverage with increasing frequency.</p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!VupU!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fbe321185-383a-4a0d-8f2f-b731a9374d7c_1522x882.png" data-component-name="Image2ToDOM"><div class="image2-inset"><picture><source type="image/webp" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!VupU!,w_424,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fbe321185-383a-4a0d-8f2f-b731a9374d7c_1522x882.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!VupU!,w_848,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fbe321185-383a-4a0d-8f2f-b731a9374d7c_1522x882.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!VupU!,w_1272,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fbe321185-383a-4a0d-8f2f-b731a9374d7c_1522x882.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!VupU!,w_1456,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fbe321185-383a-4a0d-8f2f-b731a9374d7c_1522x882.png 1456w" sizes="100vw"><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!VupU!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fbe321185-383a-4a0d-8f2f-b731a9374d7c_1522x882.png" width="1456" height="844" data-attrs="{&quot;src&quot;:&quot;https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/be321185-383a-4a0d-8f2f-b731a9374d7c_1522x882.png&quot;,&quot;srcNoWatermark&quot;:null,&quot;fullscreen&quot;:null,&quot;imageSize&quot;:null,&quot;height&quot;:844,&quot;width&quot;:1456,&quot;resizeWidth&quot;:null,&quot;bytes&quot;:123317,&quot;alt&quot;:null,&quot;title&quot;:null,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;image/png&quot;,&quot;href&quot;:null,&quot;belowTheFold&quot;:false,&quot;topImage&quot;:true,&quot;internalRedirect&quot;:&quot;https://nasdaqplaybook.substack.com/i/190947356?img=https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fbe321185-383a-4a0d-8f2f-b731a9374d7c_1522x882.png&quot;,&quot;isProcessing&quot;:false,&quot;align&quot;:null,&quot;offset&quot;:false}" class="sizing-normal" alt="" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!VupU!,w_424,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fbe321185-383a-4a0d-8f2f-b731a9374d7c_1522x882.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!VupU!,w_848,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fbe321185-383a-4a0d-8f2f-b731a9374d7c_1522x882.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!VupU!,w_1272,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fbe321185-383a-4a0d-8f2f-b731a9374d7c_1522x882.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!VupU!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fbe321185-383a-4a0d-8f2f-b731a9374d7c_1522x882.png 1456w" sizes="100vw" fetchpriority="high"></picture><div class="image-link-expand"><div class="pencraft pc-display-flex pc-gap-8 pc-reset"><button tabindex="0" type="button" class="pencraft pc-reset pencraft icon-container restack-image"><svg role="img" width="20" height="20" viewBox="0 0 20 20" fill="none" stroke-width="1.5" stroke="var(--color-fg-primary)" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><g><title></title><path d="M2.53001 7.81595C3.49179 4.73911 6.43281 2.5 9.91173 2.5C13.1684 2.5 15.9537 4.46214 17.0852 7.23684L17.6179 8.67647M17.6179 8.67647L18.5002 4.26471M17.6179 8.67647L13.6473 6.91176M17.4995 12.1841C16.5378 15.2609 13.5967 17.5 10.1178 17.5C6.86118 17.5 4.07589 15.5379 2.94432 12.7632L2.41165 11.3235M2.41165 11.3235L1.5293 15.7353M2.41165 11.3235L6.38224 13.0882"></path></g></svg></button><button tabindex="0" type="button" class="pencraft pc-reset pencraft icon-container view-image"><svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="20" height="20" viewBox="0 0 24 24" fill="none" stroke="currentColor" stroke-width="2" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" class="lucide lucide-maximize2 lucide-maximize-2"><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line></svg></button></div></div></div></a></figure></div><p>What makes this environment particularly dangerous for leveraged investors is not the direction &#8212; it is the character. This has not been a clean, fast crash. It has been a grinding, uncertain, directionless selloff punctuated by false recoveries. Every recovery attempt failed to generate the kind of sustained follow-through that would signal a genuine reversal. The tape moved, but it never committed.</p><p>The Fed meets next week on March 18-19. Rate cut expectations have been pushed out to December. That is the exact environment where discretionary trading turns into &#8220;activity for the sake of activity.&#8221; Our system has protected capital through the chop, and when a clean confirmation finally appeared midweek, it acted without drama.</p><p>That is the whole edge: protect first, then re-engage only when the tape earns it.</p><h3>&#128201; What happened in the Nasdaq-100</h3><p>On the scoreboard, the week was basically flat to slightly down. The Nasdaq-100 closed <strong>24,960</strong> on Friday, versus <strong>25,013</strong> the prior Friday.</p><p>The path was more important than the weekly number:</p><ul><li><p>Monday hit risk appetite again</p></li><li><p>Tuesday and Wednesday were the rebound</p></li><li><p>Thursday gave back a chunk of that strength</p></li><li><p>Friday faded into the close again</p></li></ul><p>This is still a market that makes you work for every point.</p><p>The bigger picture is that February has been dominated by AI-driven uncertainty and positioning stress. Even after Nvidia reported record results, the market reaction stayed fragile, which tells you sentiment is still quick to de-risk.</p><p>Volatility improved a bit versus last week, but it is not &#8220;easy-mode&#8221; yet. VXN ended the week around <strong>24.5</strong>, which is lower than the peak panic, but still high enough to produce false starts.</p><p>&#128274; Paid members get the live model allocation.</p><p class="button-wrapper" data-attrs="{&quot;url&quot;:&quot;https://nasdaqplaybook.substack.com/subscribe&quot;,&quot;text&quot;:&quot;Upgrade to Paid&quot;,&quot;action&quot;:null,&quot;class&quot;:null}" data-component-name="ButtonCreateButton"><a class="button primary" href="https://nasdaqplaybook.substack.com/subscribe"><span>Upgrade to Paid</span></a></p><div><hr></div><p><strong>What we do:</strong> One instrument (TQQQ). When the Nasdaq turns into a fast, whipsawing correction tape, most traders lose money by doing &#8220;a little bit&#8221; too often. In a 3x product, that is how you bleed.</p><p>Our rule-based engine has done its job well: it has kept capital largely out of the chop while the market has been repricing risk, compressing multiples, and reacting to headlines. That is not boring. That is the whole game. You do not need to catch every bounce. You need to avoid the period where the market is paying you poorly for taking risk.</p><h3>&#128200; What happened in the Nasdaq-100 this week</h3><p>The Nasdaq-100 finished the holiday-shortened week higher, up about <strong>+1.13%</strong> from <strong>24,732.73 (Feb 13)</strong> to <strong>25,012.62 (Feb 20)</strong>.</p><p>The path mattered more than the weekly number. The tape stayed jumpy, but we did get incremental improvement in volatility. <strong>VXN closed at 24.23 on Friday</strong>, down from <strong>26.37</strong> the prior Friday. That is a step in the right direction, but still not what I would call a clean trend regime.</p><p>The main catalyst was Friday. Stocks popped after news that the <strong>U.S. Supreme Court struck down Trump&#8217;s sweeping tariffs</strong>, which created a relief move into the close. It helped sentiment, but it does not automatically fix the underlying structure. One headline can lift prices for a day. A trend needs follow-through.</p><h3>&#128301; What matters next week</h3><p>One event is likely to dominate Nasdaq sentiment: <strong>Nvidia earnings on Wednesday, Feb 25 after the close</strong>. In this market, AI leadership is acting like a mood ring for risk appetite. If Nvidia is strong and the tape holds the reaction, that can stabilize the index. If it disappoints or guides cautiously, it can easily reprice risk again.</p><p>For the Playbook, the checklist stays simple:</p><ol><li><p>Close quality improves and green days stop fading late</p></li><li><p>Volatility keeps compressing instead of re-spiking</p></li><li><p>Leadership stabilizes for more than one session at a time</p></li></ol><p>If those conditions improve, the engine starts lighting up again. If they do not, staying defensive remains the correct trade.</p><p>&#128274; Paid members get the live model allocation.</p><p class="button-wrapper" data-attrs="{&quot;url&quot;:&quot;https://nasdaqplaybook.substack.com/subscribe&quot;,&quot;text&quot;:&quot;Upgrade to Paid&quot;,&quot;action&quot;:null,&quot;class&quot;:null}" data-component-name="ButtonCreateButton"><a class="button primary" href="https://nasdaqplaybook.substack.com/subscribe"><span>Upgrade to Paid</span></a></p><div><hr></div><p><strong>What we do:</strong> One instrument (TQQQ). The <strong>Nasdaq-100</strong> finished <strong>down about 1.37%</strong> from <strong>25,075.77 (Feb 6)</strong> to <strong>24,732.73 (Feb 13)</strong>.</p><p>The key moment was <strong>Thursday&#8217;s air pocket</strong> (Nasdaq-100 down <strong>2.04%</strong> that day), followed by a <strong>small Friday rebound</strong> (+0.18%) that felt more like &#8220;stopping the bleeding&#8221; than a clean trend restart.</p><p>What drove the week was a mix of:</p><ul><li><p><strong>AI anxiety leaking into multiple sectors</strong>, not just tech. That &#8220;AI scare trade&#8221; dynamic is now showing up as whack-a-mole volatility across industries.</p></li><li><p><strong>Cooling inflation helped early</strong>, but it did not fully change positioning behavior. Reuters noted the market initially took comfort from the inflation print (and rate cut odds moved), but major tech weakness and pre holiday caution kept risk appetite contained into the close.</p></li></ul><p>The practical takeaway is simple: the market is still acting like a correction tape. When that happens, trying to &#8220;outsmart&#8221; intraday swings is usually how you donate P and L.</p><p class="button-wrapper" data-attrs="{&quot;url&quot;:&quot;https://nasdaqplaybook.substack.com/subscribe&quot;,&quot;text&quot;:&quot;Upgrade to Paid&quot;,&quot;action&quot;:null,&quot;class&quot;:null}" data-component-name="ButtonCreateButton"><a class="button primary" href="https://nasdaqplaybook.substack.com/subscribe"><span>Upgrade to Paid</span></a></p><div><hr></div><p><strong>What we do:</strong> One instrument (TQQQ). Three fixed-weight engines (Core 50%, Momentum 25%, Short-Term 25%). Each is <strong>ON/OFF</strong> only, executed end-of-day. The important part wasn&#8217;t the net number, it was the <em>path</em>: a sharp de-risking move into Feb 5 (<strong>24,548.69</strong>) followed by a strong rebound on Feb 6.</p><p>The catalyst for the pressure was the market&#8217;s renewed obsession with <strong>AI capex and return-on-invested-capital math</strong>, investors punished anything that looked &#8220;capital-heavy / lower near-term margin certainty,&#8221; especially after commentary from Alphabet and Amazon around aggressive spending plans. Friday&#8217;s bounce (helped by strength in names like Nvidia) was real, but it didn&#8217;t fully undo the week&#8217;s damage to trend structure.</p><p><strong>How this flows into our model mindset:</strong> weeks like this are exactly why we stay rule-based. When volatility spikes and closes get &#8220;headline-driven,&#8221; our engine focuses on <strong>protecting capital first</strong> a. Paid members get the full board + the exact EOD adjustments; the free edition is about understanding <em>why</em> the engine behaves defensively in weeks like this.</p><p class="button-wrapper" data-attrs="{&quot;url&quot;:&quot;https://nasdaqplaybook.substack.com/subscribe&quot;,&quot;text&quot;:&quot;Upgrade to Paid&quot;,&quot;action&quot;:null,&quot;class&quot;:null}" data-component-name="ButtonCreateButton"><a class="button primary" href="https://nasdaqplaybook.substack.com/subscribe"><span>Upgrade to Paid</span></a></p><div><hr></div><p><strong>What we do:</strong> One instrument (TQQQ). Three fixed-weight engines (Core 50%, Momentum 25%, Short-Term 25%). Each is <strong>ON/OFF</strong> only, executed end-of-day. The equity curve since 1999 speaks for itself: ~<strong>27% per year</strong>(~<strong>65,000%</strong> cumulative). That compounding happens by being <strong>in</strong> durable trends and <strong>flat</strong> when the tape is fragile.</p><div class="captioned-image-container"><figure><a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" href="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!kmLa!,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F7f29e08a-888c-4ace-b755-9652cfb21a0f_1034x644.png" data-component-name="Image2ToDOM"><div class="image2-inset"><picture><source type="image/webp" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!kmLa!,w_424,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F7f29e08a-888c-4ace-b755-9652cfb21a0f_1034x644.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!kmLa!,w_848,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F7f29e08a-888c-4ace-b755-9652cfb21a0f_1034x644.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!kmLa!,w_1272,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F7f29e08a-888c-4ace-b755-9652cfb21a0f_1034x644.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!kmLa!,w_1456,c_limit,f_webp,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F7f29e08a-888c-4ace-b755-9652cfb21a0f_1034x644.png 1456w" sizes="100vw"><img src="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!kmLa!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F7f29e08a-888c-4ace-b755-9652cfb21a0f_1034x644.png" width="1034" height="644" data-attrs="{&quot;src&quot;:&quot;https://substack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com/public/images/7f29e08a-888c-4ace-b755-9652cfb21a0f_1034x644.png&quot;,&quot;srcNoWatermark&quot;:null,&quot;fullscreen&quot;:null,&quot;imageSize&quot;:null,&quot;height&quot;:644,&quot;width&quot;:1034,&quot;resizeWidth&quot;:null,&quot;bytes&quot;:90219,&quot;alt&quot;:null,&quot;title&quot;:null,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;image/png&quot;,&quot;href&quot;:null,&quot;belowTheFold&quot;:false,&quot;topImage&quot;:true,&quot;internalRedirect&quot;:&quot;https://nasdaqplaybook.substack.com/i/174681692?img=https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F7f29e08a-888c-4ace-b755-9652cfb21a0f_1034x644.png&quot;,&quot;isProcessing&quot;:false,&quot;align&quot;:null,&quot;offset&quot;:false}" class="sizing-normal" alt="" srcset="https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!kmLa!,w_424,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F7f29e08a-888c-4ace-b755-9652cfb21a0f_1034x644.png 424w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!kmLa!,w_848,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F7f29e08a-888c-4ace-b755-9652cfb21a0f_1034x644.png 848w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!kmLa!,w_1272,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F7f29e08a-888c-4ace-b755-9652cfb21a0f_1034x644.png 1272w, https://substackcdn.com/image/fetch/$s_!kmLa!,w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good,fl_progressive:steep/https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F7f29e08a-888c-4ace-b755-9652cfb21a0f_1034x644.png 1456w" sizes="100vw" fetchpriority="high"></picture><div class="image-link-expand"><div class="pencraft pc-display-flex pc-gap-8 pc-reset"><button tabindex="0" type="button" class="pencraft pc-reset pencraft icon-container restack-image"><svg role="img" width="20" height="20" viewBox="0 0 20 20" fill="none" stroke-width="1.5" stroke="var(--color-fg-primary)" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><g><title></title><path d="M2.53001 7.81595C3.49179 4.73911 6.43281 2.5 9.91173 2.5C13.1684 2.5 15.9537 4.46214 17.0852 7.23684L17.6179 8.67647M17.6179 8.67647L18.5002 4.26471M17.6179 8.67647L13.6473 6.91176M17.4995 12.1841C16.5378 15.2609 13.5967 17.5 10.1178 17.5C6.86118 17.5 4.07589 15.5379 2.94432 12.7632L2.41165 11.3235M2.41165 11.3235L1.5293 15.7353M2.41165 11.3235L6.38224 13.0882"></path></g></svg></button><button tabindex="0" type="button" class="pencraft pc-reset pencraft icon-container view-image"><svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="20" height="20" viewBox="0 0 24 24" fill="none" stroke="currentColor" stroke-width="2" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" class="lucide lucide-maximize2 lucide-maximize-2"><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line></svg></button></div></div></div></a></figure></div><p>If you're serious about compounding wealth with discipline, now&#8217;s the time.</p><p>&#128994;
